Chakuna Machi Asa announced a new single and video, “Sacred Land.” She is encouraging her fans to embrace digital music downloads, of which she will donate 50 percent of the proceeds to One Tree Planted.
“Together, we have already planted 570 trees from the sales of items in my Instagram Artist Merch Shop,” says the Michigan-based artist. The shop offers music, chants, video teachings, and high vibe energy healing tools such as crystals, handmade wands and jewelry to encourage individuals to explore their spiritual energy.
Chakuna is a multi-faceted artist whose last album,
Auroral Magic, was lauded by the international music community, winning a variety of awards and nominations. Her vision of healing and wisdom bridges the territory between the ancients and the coming new generations. The music embraces many elements in a fresh way, chanting and electronica fusing the elements of water, wind and the land, connecting the young and the old, joyfully planting seedlings as well as some harsh reminders of the effects of accumulated waste.
“The ‘solution for pollution’ is to replace our current behaviors with new ways of doing things. Once we do that the old ways will simply fall away because we don’t need them anymore.” she writes, adding “We don’t need to put anyone out of business, we just need the big businesses to take action and partner with the people that can help them transition to more environmentally sound practices. The best relationships that are made on this planet are the ones that are made out of respect for the current system. We just must help them transition.”
The new single is supported by a dramatic music video.
“Sacred Land” offers a beautiful dance of images that show our enjoyment of Earth’s gifts, but as you keep watching, you will also start to see how that usage, and our complicity with how things have always been done, is impacting the environment.
“As I was working on the music video, the soul of the song became very clear. Through the calming chants and video images it is actually showing my soul’s love for the earth. This song reflects my feelings about why I am vegan, why I spend so much of my energy donating to causes that I believe in, and how much that I truly love all the relationships that I have in my life.”
Chakuna adds, “We must be honest about how much we all really love the planet and if we wish to continue to enjoy her beauty we must change our actions. For some of us, in our darkest moments of life, it becomes the only thing we have left to love about being alive.”
Throughout her life, Chakuna has skillfully used sound vibration to activate the awakened natural state of universal being and to inspire personal transformation. Her spiritual name was activated in an ancient indigenous Peruvian Shamanic ceremony. The name comes from the Quechua word
Machukuna which means
Ancestor.
“Sacred Land” is an extension of the artist’s healing messages, sourced from her ancestors, but the sound is new and unique, with calming chants, peaceful ocean sounds and relaxing synth in the background. It is a balanced and relaxing mix of overtone chanting, angelic sounds, and earth based shamanic chants.
"I really feel like I try to show up everyday and everywhere from a place of love," reflects Chakuna. "I approach every situation with my love for life and gratitude for the abundance of the earth."
